June is Pride Month and this year BiblioCommons is excited to unveil BiblioBingo — our Pride Month Bingo card!
Join along, and cross off as much as you can, as we read books by LGBTQIA2S+ authors, listen to albums by LGBTQIA2S+ musicians, watch Queer films, create lists in the catalog, add tags to items, and write comments!
To help you make sure you can check off all the items here are some great lists from our partner libraries celebrating Queer, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender non-conforming and LGBTQIA2S+ content at the library.
Looking to check off the “read a memoir by an LGBTQIA2S+ author” square? Here are two fantastic Own Voices lists where I’m sure you’ll be able to find something:
Trans, Non-Binary and Two-Spirit biographies and memoirs at Vancouver Public Library, or try this list from The Indianapolis Public Library of Own Voices memoirs.
Looking for picture books with LGBTQIA2S+ characters? There are almost too many lists to choose from!
Lawrence Public Library has PRIDE: Inclusive Books for All Ages, Daniel Boone Regional Library has LGBT+ Picture Books for Kids, Saint Paul Public Library has Celebrate Pride for Young Readers, Multnomah County Library has Rainbow Pride, Fraser Valley Regional Library has this great list of books and resources for Kids and Families, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District has fiction and nonfiction books for kids, Vaughan Public Libraries has LGBTQ+ Picture Books, and Chicago Public Library has this list of Pride eBooks for kids.
Asexual characters? Arapahoe Libraries has 17 items on their list A is for Asexual.
Looking for a Queer fantasy novel? San Antonio Public Library has you set with this list of Trans Science Fiction and Fantasy.
Or, how about LGBTQIA2S+ themes in graphic novels?
Did you know that June is also National Indigenous History Month in Canada? Want to check off the “Read one novel by an Indigenous author” square, or the “read a novel featuring a Two-Spirit character”? I’m sure you’ll be able to find something on these two lists:
Indigenous Writers to Read from Burlington Public Library.
Keep an eye on our Twitter for the rest of the month as we share even more amazing resources and lists!
Can you cross off all the squares? If you do send us a photo of your completed bingo card and you could win a BiblioCommons water bottle!
